About Kim

Biography

Fitness Enthusiast

It is an irony of the modeling industry.

A magazine wants to do an article about fitness or getting in shape. They need photos to complement the editorial. So naturally they hire the most attractive models they can find, despite the fact that the models themselves don't work out at all!

Not so with Kim.

Kim hasn't just been physically active since she was young she's been athletically competitive! Across her lifetime, her involvement in sports and fitness has included swimming, running, and more. In fact, her personal-best time in a marathon is 3:52:00!

As she's progressed, the role of fitness in her life has broadened from a mere desire to participate, to a passion for making fitness practical, accessible, healthy and fun for others.

Credentials

Kim's Fitness With Kim starts when she was only six years old.

That's when she started swimming competitively, something she kept on doing for 12 years. Of course, those during those 12 years, she supplemented her swimming with weight training and competed in volleyball and basketball.

During four years of high school, she helped ensure that her team never lost a single meet. She even placed 1st in one of the Butterfly events at the New York State Swim Championships.

When she moved to New York City to begin her modeling career, pools were a little harder to come by. Before long, though, she fell in love with a new sport--running. Not content to run only recreationally, she began to compete in 5Ks, 10Ks, and other events. In 1985, practically at the last moment, she decided to enter a local marathon. She finished within four-and-a-half hours without even training for it!

Since that first taste of marathon running, Kim has run in 7 more for a total of 8 marathons. The next 3 were in New York City 2 right after the birth of her 2 oldest sons in 1986 and 1989. She ran 2 in LA, once as the fashion correspondent for Good Morning America. Her personal best time is 1992 in New York City at 3:52:00. She recently ran again in New York at the age of 46 and finished at 4:39:04. She has also done 3 triathlons.

Kim has also taken scuba lessons to do a Sports Illustrated photo shoot under water and do a fashion piece for Good Morning America. She hosted her own TV show called YOUR MIND AND BODY. Each week she had to introduce the viewer to a new sport like fly fishing, kayaking, rock climbing, skiing, golf, tennis and much more.

She has also picked up ice hockey, which is easy to understand when you remember she's married to NHL alum Ron Duguay. Ron organizes celebrity hockey games www.allstarshockey.com for charity around the country and Kim frequently dons her skates as a celebrity player. (She even won MVP during one game!) She has also raced cars at the Long Beach Toyota Grand Prix and in the streets of Washington DC for charity.

More than just a participant in athletics, Kim has used opportunities on various television shows to communicate and stress healthy diet patterns and effective fitness routines. And several years ago, Kim and Ron launched Slim Slide, a personal exercise product that included an instructional demonstration video.

So let there be no doubt--beneath the glamorous trappings of this Supermodel beats the heart of a true fitness enthusiast!
